The best time to ensure you are properly compensated is when you join a company, because once you have started in a position it’s difficult to get major salary increases beyond inflation, except when you receive a promotion.

  • Extra value you bring to the employer.
  • What are the positions above and below yours paid?
  • Other job offers, and counter offers.
